My Educational Journey

In Norway our school system is a bit different than here in the United States.

For starters we do one extra year of school. We start 1st grade the same age as 1st graders start here and go up to 13th grade.

I started primary school in my hometown Bryne. Primary school in Norway goes from 1st - 7th grade. This is where I met a lot of my friends that I still have to this day.

I've always had a lot of friends around me and never struggled with that. But I've almost never had a real interest in school.

After elementary school I started Junior high school, (8th - 10th grade). This is where things really changed. By around the beginning of 9th grade I stopped doing homework and only did the bare minimum to get through. I've always been smart and a quick learner, and there were periods where I studied a lot for tests and would get very good grades. But those other periods where I just didn't really try and goofed around I would do just slightly above average, (not the worst grades but far from my potential).

I had a lot of fun but I just didn't take school seriously.

Then came high school (11th - 13th grade). When you start high school in Norway you have to choose a direction towards your future. I chose: Sales,Service and Economy.

Which means that we had extra focus on those three subjects, and a good amount of marketing. Here as well I did slightly above average and didn't try that hard. But when Covid hit (in 12th grade) and we started with online school, I got very unmotivated and stopped almost completely with doing school work.

For many reasons I moved to California not having finished Norwegian high school.

School in Norway wasn't an option anymore, and we found out about Pacific Sands Academy. I am very thankful that I found out about Shauna and PSA. She has helped me get more motivated for school, and now I actually enjoy learning and reading, and I want to learn more, especially compared to before where I would just try and get through school as quickly and easily as possible.

During this past year I have studied and enjoyed learning about Real Estate Investing, Day Trading, American History and Geography, and Personal Finance (Dave Ramsey curriculum). I also got my California Driver's License and have been working construction part time. So that was a lot about my academic journey and I am very excited to see where it takes me in the future.
